Process of Wastewater Treatment

There is much importance in treating of wastewater from the pharmaceuticals to avoid pollutants. The purpose of establishing a good wastewater treatment process to reduce water contamination through the discharge of wastewater from pharmaceutical production activities. The process of wastewater treatment must be established within the pharmaceutical production facilities. Treatment of wastewater containing the aqua-toxic substance discharged from the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities can only be effective if, the wastewater is not mixed with wastewater ZLD SYSTEM from other sources. This means that the pre-treatment process is needed at the source and not at the end of the pipe. The manufacturers need to have information on how to deal with the treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater and be aware and understand the regulatory requirements.

1.Selecting a simple but effective wastewater treatment process which reduces maintenance and operating costs.

2.Understand the advantages and the importance of treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater from the point of source.

3. Establishing a strategy to effectively treat the wastewater.

The condition for effective treatment of wastewater from pharmaceutical production e.g the treatment of the wastewater is a part of manufacturing process. A lot of technical knowledge and skill is needed to develop an integrated, effective and economical process. Here are some of the process used in treating pharmaceutical wastewater.

1. Decomposition of EE2: wastewater, cleaning of filters tablet press machine, coating machine, HEPA filters etc. Its target is to reduce EE2 below the no observable effect concentration Responsible Care Management system  initiative.

2. 100% biological treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater from production facilities together with sanitary wastewater to fulfill local discharge values.

3. Concentration and discharge of iodine-containing effluents below the set limits of 1 ppm AOX.

The process names are filtration process, rotating biological contractor process and UV oxidation process. The filtration process is suitable for small amounts of dedicated pharmaceutical wastewater streams only. The oxidation process can be used for small amounts of dedicated pharmaceutical wastewater only when it’s not mixed with any other wastewater stream. RBC process has the lowest operation costs for treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater as it has the lowest maintenance cost and low energy consumption. The biological wastewater treatment of today is designed so that they are able to eliminate carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus from the waste. The company has a responsibility of ensuring environmental protection during the process. A precautionary approach towards the water and chemical management that reduces the introduction of problematic chemicals into the environment in the first place should be given the high priority for reducing risks to human health and ecosystem integrity. Therefore when choosing a process for your pharmaceutical wastewater treatment it is advisable to understand the process well to choose the most applicable that add to the health benefits of human and also help in preserving the environment.
